This demonstration shows what Islands of Music look and sound like for a small music
collection consisting of
77 songs.
The features from the songs are extracted as presented in the thesis.
First the Modified Fluctuation Strength is calculated. Then for each piece
of music the median of the selected sequences is calculated.
Based on a trained 7x7 Self-Organizing Map the clusters are visualized
and labeled using the methods presented in the thesis.
The pieces of music in the collection are all copyright protected, therefore only
short sequences with low quality (mono, 11kHz sampling rate) are available on this
webpage. For full quality and length visit your local music store.
