About OFAI

The Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Österreichische Forschungsinstitut für Artificial Intelligence, or OFAI) is a non-profit contract research institution with over 35 years of experience in AI research and its transfer to industry.

In solving problems for and with its partners, OFAI uses research methods from machine learning, deep learning, data mining, language and speech technology, human–computer and human–robot interaction, intelligent software agents, and other software technologies, with many of the underlying techniques developed in-house.

Services

Our services include consultancy, basic and applied research on a contractual basis, and working as a partner or prime contractor in scientific projects at the national and international levels.

OFAI's theoretical knowledge and ample experience in a diversity of application areas has benefited a long roster of partners, including small and large businesses, governmental and non-governmental organizations, university labs and clinics, and private research institutes.

Our researchers are keen on cooperating on topics of their expertise with colleagues from academia, government, and industry. For further information on working with OFAI, please get in touch with us using the contact details listed below, or write directly to OFAI's director Robert Trappl.
