A Computational Framework for Emotion-Based Control This paper describes a biologically plausible computational framework for Emotion-Based Control. Inspired by work in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Ethology, this framework captures important aspects of emotional systems and integrates these with other models of perception, motivation, behavior, and motor control. Its modular nature allows for an incremental approach in which new features are added as more is known about emotional processing in the brain. We have followed this approach to develop and study Emotion- Based Control systems for several autonomous agents in an effort to obtain new insights into the workings of emotional systems.
