Organized by Haydar Batuhan Yildiz and Jens Hopperdietzel at the University of Cologne, the workshop explored the syntactic and semantic status of intermediary participants in complex causative constructions, such as causees or instruments, from a cross-linguistic perspective. Topics included argument hierarchies, (in)direct causation, agentivity, among others, as they manifest themselves in German, English, French, Arabic, Turkish and other languages.
