We can jump from a high place into the water but not out of it, glasses fall and break but never jump back on the table to reassemble themselves, and every day we get older and not younger. But what do things look like on the sub-microscopic scale of elementary particles? I will give an introduction into the current understanding of time invariance and evidence of its violation in experimental particle physics. The connection between time invariance and other discrete symmetries, in particular CP-invariance, will be explained. I will show the first experimental determination of T-violation and discuss recent experiments on CP-violation and T-violation. Zeit: Freitag, 20.Oktober 2000, 15:00 Uhr pktl.
